Here is where I’ll catalog my self portrait and portraits. The first few are just some images I have on Facebook, because I didn’t really think I needed any “before” shots. As things move along, I’ll add more every so often. Basically, this will just be a space for me to put images of how my appearance is changing throughout this process.
1/1/12
Here you can see how thick my hair usually is. Most of my winter pictures involve a hat or a helmet of some sort, so this is the only picture I have, really, of what my hair looked like this year.
2/25/12
A trip with some friends up to Loon mountain.
6/16/25
This is the earliest picture I took while in the hospital, except for one that’s super blurry when chemo ended. This is the “before” image for my mohawk.
7/2/12
Freshly discharged, this is after a whole bunch of days in a row where I was basically shedding like crazy. You can’t really tell the difference, though.

The mohawk is definitely disappearing. I’ll be shaving the rest of it off shortly. Probably tomorrow.

Few pictures from round 1 of consolidation chemo:

Hopped on the bike, gave it my best “Blue Steel”:
10/11/12:
I wrote about this story, but I got to meet Jeremy Jones! This is the same day I got released from my post-2nd-consolidation fever.
4/24/13:
Post baldness, post transplant, first haircut! My hair is curly now, apparently.

1 year anniversary. Biked 6ish miles. Like a boss.
Of course there’s physical changes from your treatment.. but you still look good considering 🙂
Thanks! I can’t tell if people are just being nice, or they actually like how I look with a mohawk. Definitely gotten a lot of compliments on it though, haha. I’ll have to test it again once my hair grows back and maybe the cancer is gone 🙂
Well, I gotta say I’m another fan of the mohawk, definitely go for it!! lol
Shame there’s no more hawk, but I’ll try to keep the silliness alive 🙂
tis ok. hair grows back. you could do it again if you wanted 🙂
keeping the silliness going isn’t to difficult 😛 its a survival skill, a must. I’m sure you’ve got this ..
The caption for your Blue Steel photo: ” I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.”
